In a transforming world where the need for cooling, air conditioning and energy consumption is part
of our daily lives, the need for a green and sustainable technology is an absolute necessity.
We believe that magnetic refrigeration and waste heat recovery is a game-changing solution and will
become the new standard for cooling, air conditioning and energy conversion in the years to come.

Global demand for cooling will continue to increase dramatically in the coming decades due to population growth and urbanization, especially in emerging economies.
An energy-intensive industry: refrigeration and air conditioning systems were responsible for 17% of
global electricity consumption in 2022, again with a continuously rising trend. The total number of refrigeration and air conditioning systems and heat pumps in operation worldwide is around 3 billion. The global annual turnover of these systems amounts to about 300 billion dollars.
Magnetic cooling is a gas free refrigeration technology based on the magnetocaloric effect. Our units include cyclic magnetization and demagnetization phases which will heat & cool custom-made magnetocaloric alloys. All we need is a simple nontoxic water-based coolant to catch this differential of temperature and deliver clean & efficient cooling. In parallel Magnoric is also developing devices to exploit temperature differential changes of temperature to catch and convert efficiently low sources of waste heat into electricity.
Refrigeration is one of the most polluting and energy consuming industry. It is essential to promote cleaner and more efficient technology. At Magnoric we believe that magnetocalorics is the best alternative to gas compressing cooling. This technology is both safe and reliable, efficient and durable, silent and low in vibrations, clean and free from constraining gas regulations.
less energy compared to gas cooling devices
The recovery of energy from unused heat sources represents a significant potential in the development of an efficient and climate-friendly energy supply.
In this context, the so-called waste heat recovery targets the heat source generated by a process where the heat generation is a waste product of the main process and therefore usually not recovered. This is, for example, the combustion of a fuel for a furnace whose efficiency varies between 20% and 40%. Between 60 % and 80 % of the heat generated by this furnace is therefore waste heat that is not used for energy.
The technology is based on the magnetic transition, close to its Curie temperature, of a magnetic alloy under the effect of a variation of temperature. The material behaves para-magnetically above its Curie temperature and ferro-magnetically below its Curie temperature. This transition caused by rapid temperature variations in the magnetic material one of Magnoric’s expertise is used to create a magnetic imbalance as a function of temperature, which induces the rotating movement of a magnet rotor constants, or the oscillation of a piston, which drives an electric generator.
70% of the sources of waste heat are below 100°C. Today no technology can effectively convert these sources of energy into electricity. Our modelizations show that magnetocalorics can achieve great conversion rates of low temperature sources and low temperature differentials. This opens the way for efficient waste heat conversion unit producing green electricity and generating revenues for our customers.
